OPENING OF THE NEW “MOVEMENT DISORDERS AND PARKINSON’S DISEASE” DEPARTMENT AT THE CENTRO NEUROLESI BONINO-PULEJO
A new Rehabilitation Unit has been founded at the IRCCS Centro Neurolesi of Messina dedicated entirely to Parkinson's disease and movement disorders. The facility, which is naturally inclined towards research, is the only rehabilitative department entirely dedicated to such conditions in the south of Italy.
On Monday, May 15th, the opening ceremony of the department was officiated by the Minister of Health, Beatrice Lorenzin, and the Director of Research and Development, Dr. G. Leonardi, with the Scientific Director of the IRCCS, Prof. Bramanti, and the Center's director, Prof. Angelo Quartarone, in attendance. Representing the Fresco Institute Italia was Mr. Giulio Maleci.
The new "Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders" center of Messina was chosen to be the seventh center in Italy to join the Fresco Institute Network of Excellence in Italy, which aims to create a network of institutes dedicated to developing treatment and advanced research programs on Parkinson's disease with the support of the National Parkinson Foundation in the U.S.
